Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans-Joachim Linke

About the Expert

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Joachim Linke studied at the University of Bonn Geodesy with the focus on land readjustment and real estate valuation. After two years of trainee on the job for the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen he went back to the University of Bonn and worked there as a fulltime assistant and a postdoc assistant for 6 years. In 1997 he got his Dr. Then he worked for five years for the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen to develop new public and industrial areas. In 2002 he got the full professorship of Land Management at the Technical University of Darmstadt. Since 2012 he is the academic director of the MSc. Study program “Sustainable Urban Development” that is offered by the TU Darmstadt at the Vietnamese-German University. His research is focusing on land development models, real estate valuation and new infrastructure systems for fast growing cities.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Martin Knöll

About the Expert

Dr Knöll is full professor at Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. In Darmstadt, he directs the Urban Design and Planning Unit at the Department of Architecture. Together with his team of more than 10 researchers, Dr Knöll aims to contribute to the much-needed transformation of cities towards more inclusive and healthy living environments. His current research focuses on building empiric data in neuro urbanism and new participatory approaches in people-centered urban design. He is a registered architect and is active in working groups at the German Institute of Urbanism and the Academy of Territorial Planning in the Leibnitz Society. In 2020, Dr Knöll has been awarded a Heisenberg Grant by the German Research Association (DFG) for his project “Urban Design and Health”.

About the Expert

Dr. NGUYEN Hong Quan is currently an associate professor at the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh city (VNU-HCM). He is leading a newly established Institute for Circular Economy Development (ICED) and also affiliated with socio-hydrology group at center of Water management and Climate Change (WACC), Institute for Environment and Resources (IER), VNU-HCM.

He has a special interest in solving the coupled environmental – economic issues based on inter/trans-disciplinary study and by a strong partnership among academia-industry-government and other stakeholders. He has been working in environmental hydrology (e.g. saline intrusion, flood/drought, water pollution) in Southern Vietnam over the past 15 years and expanded his expertise in other disciplines e.g. climate change adaptation/mitigation, nature – based/smart – added solutions, circular economy, decarbonization, socio-ecological system resilience, sustainable urban and agriculture transformation.

Dr. Nguyen has been leading and participating in number of projects (international, national, ministerial, provincial levels) with total funding of about 1,500,000 US Dollars. He has published actively at various journals, conferences including 50 ISI/Scopus indexed articles. He served as a guest editors of several Special Issues on Circular Economy and Sustainability (Springer), Environmental Monitoring and Assessment (Springer), Water (MDPI), Journal of Agribusiness in Developing and Emerging Economies (Emerald), and he is a member of Editorial board, Frontier – Sustainability, section Circular Economy.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Thuy Loan

About the Expert

Mrs. Pham Thuy Loan has more than 20 years of experience in research, teaching, consulting and policy formulation in the field of Urban Design and Planning in Vietnam. Studied Master and PhD programs in Urban Design at the University of Tokyo from 1997 to 2002; After returning home, Mrs. Pham Thuy Loan has been taking key roles as: Head of Planning Department (from 2011 to 2014) in Hanoi University of Civil Engineering (HUCE), Deputy Director of the Institute of Architecture and Planning, HUCE (2008 – 2014) and recently Deputy Director of the National Institute of Architecture, Ministry of Construction (from 2014 to the end of 2020).

Mrs Pham Thuy Loan is particularly interested in and conducting researches on green building and green urban planning and development, toward the Sustainable Vietnam
